Founded in 1927, Naturalizer is a shoe brand with incredible heritage. And as long as we’ve been designing shoes, we’ve been designing ways to show them off to the world. If you have a passion for fashion and love of design, we may have a unique opportunity for you as a graphic designer on our team.
Our internal creative department is responsible for making all assets for this global brand, so we are an industrious team that relies on everyone’s contributions. The assets we create include: direct mail pieces, email, social media elements, event/store signage, and designs for our own digital properties. An understanding of brand identity and the ability to express it across all mediums is a must. Also, the fast-paced environment requires the ability to create and problem solve quickly.
Key skills include impeccable typography, knowledge of photography/composition, general layout and familiarity with design within the industry. Because our deliverables are so varied, producing assets to spec is essential. Supplemental skills that would work well in this position are illustration and advanced photo retouching. The ability to make something out of nothing or repair/extend an asset gives you the ability to power through some of the toughest design challenges. And finally, there are a lot of moving parts in our department’s projects, so you must be very organized and keep track of details, shoe styles, etc.
This role is a hard core design role and there will be plenty of applied work, however, you will have a first row seat for projects like catalog design, fashion photo shoots and concept development. We are seeking a curious, self-motivated person to make the most of this exposure and experience. The shoe business is changing every day and it’s an exciting time to be a part of the business!
Qualifications include:
BA degree in commercial art, design or related degree.
2-5 years in design related field. Agency, fashion, digital marketing experience preferred.
A diverse, brand-oriented portfolio of creative work that includes print and digital
Strong understanding of typography and composition. (Photography experience a plus.)
Thorough understanding of the creative process: strategy, concept, presentation, revision.
Works well as part of a team: takes direction, understands role, positive can-do attitude
REQUIRED: Mac platform, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), Microsoft Office, Web/interactive/Social experience
