We seek someone who is a detail oriented tax expert who can lead Caleres’ Sales & Use Tax process and audits.

We seek people who:
• Represents company in all state and local Sales & Use Tax and Personal Property Tax audits by negotiating selection of audit methodology, analyzes audit information, and negotiates resolution of disputed issues
• Advises on company policies and procedures for SALT responsibilities, and assures that SALT policies and procedures are in compliance with Sarbanes Oxley
• Oversees the outsourcing firm in completing approximately 125 Sales & Use Tax returns per month and 950 annual Personal Property Tax returns
• Prepares monthly Sales Tax Payable Reconciliation and calculates the Vendor Discount taken to income for the retail divisions
• Monitors SALT policies and procedures, identifies areas for improved efficiency and partners with the business or the outsourcing firm to develop and implement change as needed
• Assists in preparation of Federal and state income tax returns
We seek people with these qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required
o CPA membership nice to have
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as government tax auditor or 5 years’ experience in private sector SALT
• Federal and state income tax experience preferred
• Knowledge of US and Canadian Sales, Use & VAT tax law
• Knowledge of Personal Property tax law
• Knowledge of US Federal and state income tax law (preferred)
