Athletic Trainer

Casual call to fill in for an occasional event

Participates in prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries within their scope of practice as set forth by the State of WI. Provides healthcare services during after school hours and at athletic events for area high schools and assists in implementing injury prevention and athletic performance enhancement programs.
• Follows policies and procedures in performing duties.
o Complies with all WF facility-wide and departmental policies and procedures.
o Adheres to the WF mission and vision statements.
• Complies with all local, state, and federal regulations as well as continuing education.
• Safely and accurately completes initial assessments of a patient or athlete’s injury or illness and provides appropriate care (including first aid) and makes appropriate determinations regarding referral to Physician and other healthcare providers for further diagnosis and treatment.
• Utilizes proper technique for taping, bandaging, applying braces, and fitting athletic and durable medical equipment.
• Participates in a patient and athlete’s rehabilitation from an injury using equipment and techniques as allowed by law and state practice act.
• Evaluates athlete’s readiness to play and/or progress of recovery and report to appropriate coaches and team medical staff.
• Designs and implements injury prevention, performance enhancement, and wellness programs for the physically active.
• Instructs athletes, parents, coaches, medical personnel, and other community members in proper care and prevention of athletic injuries.
• Completes all other duties as assigned by Director, Coordinator, or Sports Medicine Physician.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor's degree from a CAATE accredited Athletic Training Education Program required.
• Experience: 1-2 years of experience preferred. Entry-level graduates with NATA Certification will be considered.
• Current WI license or ability to obtain WI license required.
• Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or the ability to obtain CSCS within 6 months of hire.
