Ultrasound Technician - Casual

We are seeking coverage for a weekend and holiday call rotation for Ultrasound (anticipated one every 4 weekends). Dual ARRT and Ultrasound licensure candidates would have opportunity for more hours.

Performs a wide variety of high quality clinical ultrasound procedures including advanced and specialized procedures requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, advanced knowledge and initiative. Performs basic and advanced ultrasound procedures at a consistently high quality level. Perform basic and advanced ultrasound procedures, including obstetrical, abdominal, vascular studies, small parts, invasive biopsies and guidance procedures, Peds sonography utilizing ultrasound equipment and accessories. Obtains and review appropriate paperwork, including pertinent information, clinical indications and special instructions, prior to each procedure. Prepares room, ultrasound equipment, sterile tray and field and other related equipment as needed for procedure. Provides patient care by providing comfort measures, monitoring patient condition and reporting any change in appropriate personnel. Addresses patient professionally and courteously, introduces themselves, verifies patient identification, evaluates patient condition through interviewing patient, reviews chart and images as needed, explains examination (AIDET), and responds appropriately to all questions. Consistently provides detailed diagnostic images for permanent record by operating cameras, video recorders, and or digital computer generated imaging devices; and provides a completed worksheet with exams as needed. Evaluates quality of images and routinely consults with the Radiologist and provides technical and professional knowledge toward a final diagnostic impression, and may provide a preliminary report to a referring physician as needed. Completes appropriate paperwork following procedures; i.e. comments, worksheets and charges. Prioritizes and performs exams on a timely basis, especially in emergency and stressful situations. Establishes and maintains effective, collaborative working relationships with other health care team members and across the organization. Maintains a clean and safe environment. Washes hands before and after every patient. Maintains a current level of knowledge in Radiographic Sonography and in clinical practice. Performs specialized duties as assigned and participates in training of sonography and hospital related personnel.

Required:
Completion of an accredited allied health program in medical Sonography. Must be ARDMS Registered. Minimum of 2 year’s experience in a hospital related setting.
Preferred:
If ARRT in addition to ARDMS, Completion of 2 year allied health program in Radiologic Technology. Registered Radiologic Technologist.
