Urgent Care Advanced Practice Practitioner (APP) - Casual

Part Time

Mid-level Provider at Westfields Hospital Urgent Care is responsible for providing minor acute illness examinations including treatments, screenings, and vaccinations. This individual’s overall performance supports the mission statement and commitment to patient-centered, timely, effective, efficient, and safe service.
• Performs and provides treatments for minor acute illness, patient examinations, making initial assessment, initiating treatment and referring to physician when applicable.
• Consults with Medical Director when appropriate.
• Provides same-day medical services.
• Prescribes medications for symptoms and temporary pain relief, following treatment guidelines, policies and procedures.
• Initiates and/or completes diagnostic testing as applicable to training by Westfields Lab Management.
• Maintains lab test Quality Controls and Quality Control log.
• Maintains paper lab results log.
• Documents pertinent data in Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
• Promote and maintain positive team orientated relationships with reception staff, Westfields registration/billing/scheduling staff, New Richmond Clinic physicians and staff, Westfields Emergency Room staff, and others to deliver and coordinate excellent care for clients.
• Participates in trainings as required.
• Participates as team member in committees as required.
• Collaborates with HealthPartners, IT support Center, Westfields IT staff, and others to maintain current training in care delivery systems.
• Ensures the confidentiality of health information. Abides by Westfields policy regarding the confidentiality of patient/member information and conformance with applicable laws and statutes.
• Ensures confidentiality of information of a financial, technical, or business nature regarding WFH&C and/or systems or methods.
• Maintains awareness of charges-same charge applies for both for self-pay and insurance.
• Enters charges appropriately.
• Able to discuss insurance co-pays, deductibles, credit and cash payments with clients
• Collaborates with Medical Director, New Richmond Clinic, Westfields Emergency Room, and other clinics and Emergency Departments to coordinate care for clients.
• Maintains presentation of physical plant and quality controls.
• Communicates with appropriate colleagues regarding maintaining and ordering pharmacy, lab, and office product inventory

Qualifications include:
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and formal nurse practitioner program. Masters’ required for candidates graduating after 1992.
• Current RN license, certified or eligible for certification through ANA national exam as ANP, FNP.
• Approved or eligible for approval by the Wisconsin Board of Nursing for prescription writing privileges.
• Current CPR certification.
• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
• Current National Certification by NCCPA
• Current license or eligibility for approval to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State of Wisconsin
