Emergency Medical Technician

Full-time - Days - Monday - Friday

Duties include:
Prepare for and respond to EMS calls for service and function as a team member in the assessment, treatment, and transportation of patients.
Prepare for and respond to EMS calls for service and function as a team member in assessing, treating and transporting patients. Duties include but are not limited to:
• Driving Ellsworth Ambulance vehicles in a safe, legal manner
• Safe lifting of stretchers, patients and equipment
• Completion of electronic Patient Care Reports on all ambulance runs
o Completion of all billing forms
o Obtaining required signatures
o Obtaining required copies/forms from receiving/transferring facility
• Assisting in completion of a daily rig checks on all EMS vehicles which includes:
o Counting and accounting for medications (with assistance of a paramedic)
o Ensuring adequate stocking, cleaning of medical supplies and equipment.
o Ensure vehicles are in proper running order (oil level, tire inflation, etc…)
• Cleaning and restocking of ambulances
• Assisting in the cleaning of the ambulance base (vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, emptying garbage cans, and any other tasks needed to maintain a professional appearing base) on a schedule determined by the Director
• Maintaining a good working relationship with first responders, fire departments, surrounding EMS providers, law enforcement and EAAS full time and paid on call staff.
• Providing EMS coverage for various community/PR events
• Instructing EMS/Safety related classes
• Participating in outreach to schools and other community organizations (i.e. EMS week, visits to schools, mock crashes)
• Providing EMS coverage for various community/PR events

Qualifications include:
• Wisconsin certified EMT.
• Minimum of one year experience as an EMT working in an ambulance environment.
• Ability to work a flexible work schedule including evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Valid driver’s license.
• BLS CPR certification or equivalent.
